Lite duty tool
Date:April 20, 2012
If I were in an area with sandy soil I would say this is a fine tool. However, I live in an area with very hard clay. Using this tool with my 49 hp Long tractor caused a failure in one of the welds that ultimately caused one of the side extensions to collapse.
I would recommend a heavier duty model made of plate steel instead of tubular steel as this one is.

Rips!
Date:April 3, 2011
I've used this a couple months now - and it does exactly what it is designed to do. I've used it to create a 300 ft long x 15" deep trench to lay water lines for a sprinler system and garden area, rip up an area for a garden (40x50), and break up the dirt in the bottom of a dried up pond. The trick is to take it in layers instead of going for the full depth all at once. For the pond area, it busted up the soil very well, and was then easily scooped out with a FEL.
FWIW - I have a sub-compact Kubota (18 hp) and going to deep all at once with the plow will stop her dead in her tracks. So, again, layers (2-3) seems to work the best and puts a lot less stress on the tractor and the plow.
I wish my 3-point picked it up just a bit more as sometimes the tip of the plow will catch when just traveling with it mounted as it clears the ground only by an inch or so.

Good for light duty work
Date:March 15, 2011
This product would be a good tool for light duty work (e.g. no roots and soft soil). Under a heavy load, the weld that holds the tool to the shaft fails. The first time it broke it was clear that the original weld was not a full penetration weld. I'm going to have to re-weld it for the second time in less than a year after working over a new (previously unplowed) field.

Time saver
Date:August 19, 2010
We were digging a pond, the dozer could not grab enough soil to push. Ran down to TSC and bought this sod buster and put it behind my kubota tractor. I would criss cross the area about a half a foot then push with the dozer till smooth, then criss cross again. In one week, I had a 1 acre pond 18 ft deep done. it saved me lots of money from having to rent bigger equipment.
